 The Most Immersive Part of GTA V's Open World Is Its Radio




GTA V is as current moment as it was in 2013, so when the new generation performances launched on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/ S in March, I decided to eventually give it a pass. Commonly to utmost reading this presumably, it lived up to the hype. So much so that I am still playing it moment, over two months latterly. I love playing during the game's main crusade and the nonnatives and Freaks operations, but I set up my favorite thing to be just driving while harkening to the music. 

 After hopping on to do just that the other night, I realized commodity the radio in GTA V makes it more immersive than utmost open- world games for me. I suppose that’s why I spend so much of my time in- game driving around, harkening to Kendrick Lamar, Frank Ocean, and Chakra Attack’sDr. Ray De Angelo Harris, raised byJ.B. Smoove. 

 I scroll through my usual pets – blonded Los Santos, Channel X, Vinewood Boulevard Radio, and of course,Non-Stop-Pop FM. Is a favorite tune on like Ocean’s" Chanel" or Koffee’s" W"? Have I heard 

this member of Chakra Attack? Searching generally takes me about a nanosecond, and I refuse to get on the road until I find exactly what I ’m in the mood for, which is exactly what I do when I get in my auto in real life. 

 And also I drive. 

 Occasionally I ’m heading toward my coming charge, but frequently, I ’m just driving long enough to reach the end of a song and see what pops up next. I ’m obsessed with this, and I ’m enough surprised by how much further immersive listening to real- world music makes GTA V’s open world. Of course, I do not feel like Franklin or Michael or Trevor( not sure I'd indeed want to, given the events of the game), but the radio does a lot of heavy lifting to make it feel like I am living notoriety's life in GTAV.  

 I ’m obviously veritably apprehensive I ’m playing a videotape game, but there’s commodity special about hearing a song I hear to while driving in real life come on the radio in GTA V. It influences how I drive – when Ace Hood’s" Bugatti" comes on, yeah, I ’m presumably going to be speeding, launching off of ramps, and drifting through corners because it’s hype as hell. When" Glamorous" by Fergie starts, perhaps I trade in the truck for a satiny two- door and voyage through town Los Santos. And when Chakra Attack begins, I ’m presumably just laughing to myself, a lot. 

 Important like how I try to match music to my mood in real life, or occasionally indeed set my station grounded on whatever I end up harkening to, the same happens in GTA V, and I wish more games would feed to that because I do n’t suppose I ’m alone. Sure, some games use real- world artists in their soundtrack – Cyberpunk 2077 did it in 2020 – but I ’m not sure any focus as important on music as Rockstar Games does, going so far as to actually modernize soundtracks with new songs and radio stations.  

 There’s really a litany of brand hurdles to jump over to do this, and numerous companies do n’t have Rockstar Games plutocrat to do that, so I understand why utmost soundtracks are n’t living. But imagine if they were – I know my absorption in open- world games would increase, and that’s important because it keeps me playing. And that’s commodity I suppose every inventor wants for its game. 

In this medium, hundreds of workers spend thousands of hours perfecting in- game encounter, the way a cutter stabs into an adversary, or how glass breaks when a slipup is thrown into it – all to insure the experience is as life- like as possible( which, mind you, is stupendous and commodity I appreciate assuming that’s done under healthy conditions). I ’d just like that kind of energy put into music more frequently.
